Lindberg 72324 1935 Auburn Speedster

The Auburn 851 Speedster is an American sports passenger car that was presented to the public for the first time in 1934. Its serial production took place only in 1935. The car was powered by an 8-cylinder engine with a capacity of 4.5 liters and a maximum power of 150 HP. In total, about 5,000 cars of this type were produced. The 851 Speedster was developed and put into production by the Auburn Automobile Company. The designer of this car was Gordon Buehring, who also designed bodies for companies such as Packard and General Motors. The new car gained widespread recognition due to its very elegant Boattail body, with a two-person passenger cabin and no luggage compartment! Such a function was performed only by a small compartment behind the cabin with the door opening to the sides. The Auburn 851 Speedster was also characterized by great performance at that time, and its top speed slightly exceeded 160 km / h! Interestingly, the slightly changed 851 model did not enjoy such consumer interest.
