The 5.7 cm Maxim-Nordenfelt is a German, rapid-firing field and 57 mm tank gun from the First World War. The first prototypes of the cannon were developed in the early 1880s, and its production started in 1887. The weight of the gun in combat position was 860 kilograms. The barrel was 26.3 calibers long, or about 150 centimeters. The maximum rate of fire from this gun was as high as 36 shots per minute with a well-trained crew, and the maximum range was about 6400 meters. The initial velocity of the projectile fired from this weapon was 401 m / s. The presented gun was originally developed by the British arms company Maxim-Nordenfelt Guns and Ammunition Company, but the Belgian company Cockerill bought the rights to its production relatively quickly. The latter entity produced cannons for the needs of the Belgian army, which joined them in battle against the German army in the summer of 1914. It was then that a large number of the 5.7 cm Maxim-Nordenfelt guns fell into German hands. German troops, in turn, used this cannon both as a light infantry cannon and as an anti-tank cannon, but also as a tank cannon in A7V vehicles.
