Airfix 02326 Bedford MK.4 Tonne Truck

The Bedford MK (other designation: FV13801) was a British military truck of the post-war era. The first prototype units of this vehicle were built at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s, and serial production began in the early 1970s. The vehicle was powered by a single Bedford 330-93 6-cylinder engine, but from 1981 it was mainly installed in trucks of this type. all diesel engines.

The design of the Bedford MK car was based on the civilian Bedford TK truck, with the chassis reinforced and other minor modifications introduced, allowing the car to be used by the military. The new truck was to replace the Bedford RL cars in the British army. When designing the new truck, the greatest emphasis was placed on versatility and the ability to easily configure the transport hatch to meet operational requirements. The possibility of off-road driving was also ensured by the use of all-wheel drive (4x4). The vehicle, in its basic version, could carry a load of up to 4 tons. Bedford MK trucks were used in very different roles: as artillery tractors, transport vehicles, tankers and technical support vehicles.
