Tamiya 14025 Ducati 900SS Kit - CF425

The Ducati 900 SS (SS for Super Sport) is an Italian sports and racing motorcycle that was first presented to the public in 1975. Serial production of the 1st generation SS model in various versions and variants lasted until 1981.

The 900 SS was developed and put into production in order to commercialize Ducati's great success with its triumph in the Imola 200 race in April 1972. The Ducati 900 SS was developed as a development of the motorcycle competing in this race, as well as a modernization of the 750 SS model. The main change, in relation to both models, was the increase in the displacement of the engine used to 904 cm3, which, however, still used desmodronic timing. However, many components (e.g. suspension or exhaust system) remained unchanged. Also in comparison with the 750 SS, the 900 SS model did not differ in any significant way externally. However, the result was a motorcycle with good performance, great on-road properties, which allowed Ducati to strengthen its position in the sports bike segment. It is worth adding that in the period 1988-2007 the Super Sport series returned to production, but these were completely different motorcycles in terms of design and technology.
