The Flammenwerfer 35 is a German backpack flamethrower from the interwar period and World War II. The weapon was produced in the years 1938-1941. Its weight was 35.8 kilograms, and the effective range of fire was up to 25 meters. The development of the Flammenwerfer 35 took place only after the Third Reich rejected the military restrictions imposed by the Treaty of Versailles. The new weapon was largely based on solutions used on flamethrowers from the First World War. Interestingly, however, the Flammenwerfer 35 required only one soldier to operate and could be carried on his back, which increased the mobility of the weapon. The weapon had two tanks: a large, cylindrical one with a combustible mixture and a smaller one (with a capacity of 5 liters) with compressed nitrogen, which allowed the mixture to be ejected under high pressure. The Flammenwerfer 35 was used in pioneer battalions to capture fortifications, fortified points or in the course of street battles. The weapons were used, to a greater or lesser extent, throughout World War II.
