The main modernization involved the use of completely different materials for the construction of cylinders and valves, as well as a significant increase in the cooling area. The 14N version was later upgraded with the addition of a two-stage turbocharger (Model 14R), but its development was hampered by the defeat of France in 1940. However, it was developed after 1945. The Gnome-Rhone 14N engine was modernized in the period 1937-1940, and its maximum power increased from 915 HP to 1400 HP in the 14N-50 version.
