The castle in Bouzov in the Czech Republic in the Olomouc region dates back to the full Middle Ages. The first references to the existence of the castle come from the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. Most likely, the castle was founded by a knight named Buza from the later Buz family, hence the name of the castle. The castle played quite an important role in the defense system of the eastern borders of the Czech Republic. Over time, it underwent further reconstructions, mainly in the spirit of the Renaissance in the 16th century. It also changed owners quite often, until 1696, when it was purchased by the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order. It remained in the hands of the order until 1939, when it was confiscated by the Nazis. During World War II, the castle was actually owned by the SS. The present appearance of the castle was given to it at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in the course of thorough and careful reconstruction and parallel conservation works, which were supervised by professor of the Academy of Fine Arts from Munich - prof. Georg von Haberisser.
