Fujimi 500232 Kofuku-ji Go-jyu-no-toh (Five-Story Pagoda)

The Contemporary Five-Story Pagoda (Japanese Latin: gojunoto) located within the temple complex of the Buddhist religion in To-Ji, it dates back to the mid-17th century. Most often, the year of its completion is assumed to be 1643, so it was created in the so-called the Edo period in the history of Japan. The pagoda is now 54.8 meters high, which makes it the tallest wooden structure in the Japanese islands. In 1952, the pagoda in To-Ji was entered on the list of the National Treasures of Japan. It is also worth adding that the first mentions of the To-Ji pagoda appear in sources as early as the 9th century, but the original building was destroyed and was - in a changed form - rebuilt probably four or five times, until it assumed a form that can be admired today. It is also worth remembering that the To-Ji temple complex is one of the most important and oldest objects of the Buddhist kilt in Japan, dating back to the 8th-9th centuries.
