Obice da 75/18 modello 34 75 mm is an Italian light howitzer from the interwar period and World War II. Design work on this gun began in the early 1930s, and the weapon entered production and service in the Italian army in 1934. The weight of the gun in the combat position was 1,050 kilograms, and the barrel was 20.75 calibers (155.7 centimeters) long. The initial velocity of the projectile fired from this gun was up to 425 m / s, and the maximum range was about 9500 meters. The gun was developed and was primarily produced by the arms company Ansaldo, which was founded in 1853. The presented gun was developed primarily as a light towed howitzer for mountain infantry units. For this reason, it emphasizes the lowest possible weight, the possibility of easy transport and the durability of the entire structure. The weapon turned out to be successful and was exported primarily to Portugal. From 1940, it was also the basic armament of the Semovente 75/18 self-propelled gun. It is worth noting that in the latter case, de facto HEAT ammunition was used for the gun, which made the Obice da 75/18 modello 34 75 mm quite a good anti-tank gun - especially against light Allied tanks.
