ACE 72259 Medium Personnel Carrier Kfz.16

Kfz.16 is a German, medium, military all-terrain vehicle from the interwar period and World War II. The car was produced in the years 1937-1943. Its length was about 4.7 m, with a width of about 1.85 m and a height of up to about 2.1 meters. The load capacity of the car reached 600 kilograms. The drive - most often - was provided by a single Horch 830 engine with 79 HP. It is assumed that the vehicle's operating range was approximately 400 kilometers. The Kfz.16 was designed for the needs of the German Army (Heer) as one of the vehicles belonging to the family of universal, passenger military vehicles with off-road capability. They were collectively referred to as Einheits-PKW, and the first copies appeared in the years 1936-1937. The Opel plants (precisely: Opelwerk Brandenburg) and Auto Union (today's Audi), but also the Horch plants were responsible for the development and production of the Kfz.16 car. It is worth adding that the vehicles produced in individual plants differed from each other mainly in the drive unit, and the individual engines quite clearly differed in maximum power, which ranged from 67 to 89 HP! Of course, this had an impact on the driving dynamics and maneuverability of cars produced in various plants. The Kfz.16 vehicles were used primarily as artillery observation vehicles, but also as light transport vehicles and for transporting infantry.
