The Northrop BT-1 is an American two-seat dive bomber. Its design began in 1935, but the flight of the prototype did not take place until 1938. In the same year, planes began to enter the equipment of the US Navy. In total, 54 aircraft were delivered on the USS Yorktown and USS Enterprise aircraft carriers. The BT-1 aircraft did not turn out to be a successful design. It was characterized by very poor flight characteristics and low flight stability at low speed, which, considering the service on aircraft carriers, was a terrible combination. Several machines were lost as a result of the disasters. Technical data: Maximum speed: 357 km / h, speed of climb: 6.5 m / s, maximum ceiling 7,710 m, maximum range: 1,852 km, armament: fixed - 1 machine gun cal. 12.7 mm and 1 machine gun cal. 7.62mm, suspended - up to 454 kg of bombs.
