The OKz32 steam locomotives were constructed at the request of the Polish Ministry of Transport, which aimed to partially replace the TKt1 and TKt2 locomotives used by PKP, due to the increase in passenger transport. The new locomotive was dedicated primarily to the Krakow-Zakopane route, which meant that it had to cope well in hilly and mountainous terrain, have increased water and fuel reserves, and have a tender. It was also assumed that the OKz32 would be capable of hauling trains weighing up to 400 tons. A team led by prof. Antoni Xiężopolski. The OKz32 series of steam locomotives turned out to be quite successful, and the locomotives of this type served until 1974.
