USS Currituck (AV-7) was an American air tender from World War II and the Cold War. The keel for this unit was laid in December 1942, the launch took place in September 1943, and entry into service with the US Navy - in June 1944. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 164.7 meters and a width of 21.1 meters. Full displacement reached approx. 14,000 tons and maximum speed approx. 19 knots. The armaments consisted of four single 127 mm guns.

The USS Currituck (AV-7) was the first of four ships of the class of the same name, the Currituck. From the very beginning, ships of this class were designed as ocean-going ships, capable of ensuring free air operations by flying boats. Hence their large size, well-designed gym and relatively spacious warehouses. The ship from which the entire class takes its name, the USS Currituck (AV-7), was built in Philadelphia Naval Shipyard , and after launching, he was assigned to the Pacific Fleet. At the turn of 1944 and 1945, and in the first half of 1945, the unit operated in the Philippines. In August 1945, she was sent to Okinawa. Until the end of this year, the ship remained in the Far East. The unit was placed in the reserve in 1947, but returned to active service in 1951. She remained in it until 1971, taking part in the Vietnam War (1964 / 1965-1975).
