Cannon PaK 44 (full name: The Panzerabwehrkanone 44 L / 55) cal. 128 mm is a German towed anti-tank gun from the end of World War II. The first prototypes of the weapon were made in 1943, and the production of serine was carried out in 1944. It is assumed that the PaK44 was the most powerful anti-tank gun of World War II, capable of destroying virtually any Soviet or Allied armored vehicle. The development of this cannon was the KwK44 tank cannon, which was to be used in the Maus and was used in the Jagdtiger tank destroyer. The ammunition for the PaK44 cannon was loaded separately, i.e. the actual projectile and the expelling charge were loaded separately into the cartridge chamber. At the same time, it is worth adding that light, medium and heavy throwing charges were used. In the case of firing against unarmored targets, light and medium charges were used, and the initial velocity of the projectile ranged from 845 to 880 m / s. Heavy throwing charges were used to fire against armored targets. At that time, the Panzer Granate 43 (PzGr.43) missile was primarily used, which was an APCBC-HE missile with an initial velocity of 950 m / s. Such a missile could penetrate an armor plate with a slope of 30 degrees, 230 mm thick over a distance of 1000 meters, 200 mm thick at a distance of 2000 meters and 173 mm at a distance of 3000 meters.
